Tong Pak Fu, Paradigm Mall.

The smelly asses came up a few days ago and we checked out Paradigm Mall, they came just in time when the new mall opened. We arrived at about 11am on a Wednesday morning so there was plenty of parking. Mum suggested we had some dessert and Reb was all for it. Decided to try out Tong Pak Fu.

They have many varieties and their dessert are delicious so it would be money well spent. Have a look at the few pages of menu that I managed to snap.

Some shots while waiting for the dessert. There are a few desserts that would require you to wait for 15 minutes upon order.

A few shots of Paradigm mall from where we were sitting.

Then our order came,

Tricks Durian Snow Ice, RM14.90 (large). Oh! I love love love this snow ice so much!! Ive tried some before and it wasnt as good as this. Maybe it's because it was durian so I tend to be a bit biased. I dont know why they had corn flakes as topping, actually I thought it was odd but it wasnt too bad.

We also had Mango Napoleon with Vanilla Ice- Cream, RM10.80! I thought that it would be really sweet looking at the layer of mango cream and sugary topping but surprisingly it was just right! I could have another serving of this anytime!

With generous amount of fresh mangoes too!

Total bill,

Good treat! Thanks mum!

Now Im craving for cakes and pastries. And KFC.

I miss you Danial, Im just hoping that time pass fast so I can have you all to myself soon hehe

p.s. Caution! Paradigm mall has REALLY SLIPPERY FLOOR!!

Garden Recipe, Paradigm Mall.

Just a short post before I go back watching my Korean drama lol So the latest buzz around Kelana Jaya would be the new Paradigm Mall that had just opened last Wednesday. Its right opposite Giant, Kelana Jaya. Thanks to Liyana who drove us there on Friday, I managed to have a preview of the mall. We arrived there around 9pm had dinner and the mall was closing, yea thats what I mean by preview lol

Since the mall was freaking packed, and nearly every restaurant were filled with people we decided to have dinner at Garden Recipe. Its located at the LG.

Talking about floors, Paradigm mall has so many floors!! I think up to 5 or 6. Obviously didnt had the time to check out the shops, maybe tomorrow or day after tomorrow when the smelly asses are up.

As sucky as their food were, they still had a lot of people patronising the shop. Its either people were associating them with the Gardens cafe (the one in Sunway Pyramid/ One Utama) or everyone was rushing for time ad just decided to settle for this shop after all other alternatives were striked out.

Why striked out? Just like us, we were looking for shops based on the directory but sadly they were either not opened yet or we just cant find them:S

Have a look at the list of food,

Ameer had Chicken Pop and Mamak Fried Brown noodles. I think the chicken cost about RM8 and the noodles should be about RM13.

The chicken was still okay, but I'd rather have KFC. I didnt try the Mamak noodles because I didnt want to pick on his food, since we arent that close yet LOL. Anyway, Ameer said that it was tasteless so he ended up using the chilli dip for the chicken on his noodles:S

Liyana had Tom Yum Soup with Brown Rice Mee Hoon, RM12.90. TheTom Yum was sour but the sour was weird. Somehow I didnt like it, thank God I didnt order that.

Liyana snapping away with her Tab.

I had Chili Padi Brown Rice Mee Hoon, RM12.90. My God!! I was horrid. Tasteless can?! But the watermelon was very sweet, reminded me of the watermelons that you get when you order a Korean meal set. The salad, top right, tasted okay. It was really fresh tasting since they didnt use heavy dressing.

All of our food were served except for Alyssa's, she started to get a bit emo LOL

Finally when we were about to be done her meal came, Curry Noodles, RM12.90. She looked a bit scary when she's hungry so I didnt try it. She told us she didnt know what she was eating, she just ate it because she was hungry. Yes, the food was that pathetic.

The plus point for this shop is that they serve brown noodles, like lots of them. So healthy people would be happy about it. They also have kids meals, like really small portions which cost triple the price. BUT, they come in cute kiddy plates and small cups. They also have slightly better looking things like chicken and chips etc but I didnt want to risk my RM20+.

The bad thing, their food.

I'd rather have that sickening McD than spend my RM15 (after tax) on that whatever Chili Padi noodles. FYI, I didnt notice any fast food shops there? Weird. Or maybe I just miss it since I was in a hurry.

Ending with a picture. I thought I look pretty from the back :P

Hawker Foods are Conmen!

Writing down my thoughts here have nowadays seem to be a boring and time wasting thing to do. Guess I have much more important things in my adult life to fulfill:S Anyway, since Ive already got the pictures up and since I have a little spare time on my hand, I decided to waste my type typing my thoughts down. Okay, so maybe someday my daughter of granddaughter would be interested in reading my journals:S

If you havent read my previous post, I ended with a complain about Hawker Centre Food. So in this post I would grumble and mumble all the way about how unsatisfying it was having dinner there! Last week, or was it 2 weeks ago I had dinner at this Hawker Centre along Jalan Kuchai Lama. If Ive not mistaken its call 188?

FYI, ALL HAWKER CENTRES ARE THE SAME!

For those of you who dont know what a hawker centre is, well its a place with a variety of food stalls. There can be up to 20 of food stalls at in one location. Usually open air area. The food served there are suppose to be cheaper than elsewhere i.e. a shop/ cafe/ restaurant etc.

Mark the important attribute of hawker centres: CHEAPER FOOD.

Since at that time Nit just came back from JB and she got sick and tired of good food, we decided to have dinner at the hawker centre. Its good for my budget anyway. So I had a dish of fish stir fried with onions and ginger also rice to go with it RM8, I had a cup of carrot milk RM4, I had deep fried oyster mushrooms RM10 and also I had rojak RM5.

Of course, we shared the fried mushrooms and rojak,

I spent a total of RM18 for dinner and I wasn't even full!! It just pisses me off so bad when I spend my money on food that made me drive SO FAR yet left me with an unfilled stomach while costing me SO MUCH!

The portion of fish I had was so tiny that the guy make it seem like Malaysia's fishes are on the verge of extinction. He gave me so much spring onions and ginger!! If I were to eat only vegetable, I would have had it at home yes?!

The carrot juice was diluted. I could feel the blended vegetable (carrot) floating on the surface of the water. I dont mean it literally, but that was how I felt when I took a slurp.

The mushroom that cost RM10? That was still okay, just a bit heartaching when I could buy the same quantity of mushroom for only RM2.

The rojak that cost me RM5, good prawn paste but why are these people so stingy with fruits?!! And they didnt had crush peanuts on top:(

Of course, when you pay a cheap price you cant expect for 5 star food quality. That I can apprehend. But hawkers/ pasar malam people/ food bazaar who sells food with that portion and quality really makes the food RELATIVELY EXPENSIVE!!

That was the last straw. NO MORE hawker. Its either I spend RM5 more to get food in a proper shop or I could just survived with vegetables and bread at home. Freaking conmen seriously. Im still so pissed thinking about this issue.

The next time I was craving for meat, I went to the nearby shop at Bandar Sunway, before turning out to the LDP (NOT a hawker centre) to get the meat that I was craving for. We had Deer meat stir fried with spring onions, RM7.

I had some kind of Tofu soup, RM8. There were prawns inside too! Tasted very much like shark fins soup, just that it was tofu instead.

I had Butter Squids, RM12!!! Taste so so so really good!! Love that egg yolk flakes!

Kailan with garlic, RM5

Since I was there with a friend, we both spent about RM22 on the food excluding drinks!! Whenever I compare it with the RM18 I spend on stupid hawker food, it makes me feel like an idiot.

Moving on, Manhattan Fish Market is now having their Cheesy Menu!! They have the Cheesy Platter, Cheeese and Feeesh (fish and chips with cheese), cheesy fries and nachos with cheese dipping.

You can also get the additional RM9.90 deal that comes with the soup of the day and a fizzy lemonade drink.

Their soup always taste so good! It has that made from the scratch taste, no can soup taste.

Fizzy lemonade kinda drink, forgot its name.

Hungry Nit.

We ordered the Cheesy Platter, RM42.90++. It came with fries, rice, fish, squid, mushroom and chicken!! The grilled chicken top with flaming cheese is the one next to the lemons.

This platter would best serve for 3. Both of us had a hard time finishing the food towards the end. Its always the case where we cant waste food, because wasting food is wasting money. Wastage of money would be a bigger issue for me than of food.

That was what's left. We took so long to finish up the remaining squid because it tasted so oddly salty. The fries wasnt much of a problem. We left the rice, it was more than we could take. To think that Nit asked if we could have more cheese dip?!! But that was before we started eating:S

Talking about the cheese dip. GOSH, it doesnt taste cheesy at all! It was all creamy, creamy, creamy. It had the colour of cheese but not the flavour. It didnt even had that artificial cheese taste like those in snacks!! So we were practically dipping out bites in heavy cream. Its no wonder that we felt like vomiting soon after:( Thank God for the lemons!!

Random; we watched Dark Shadow the one with Johnny Depp in it. It was an okaaay show. I would rate it 2 stars, waste of money again!! ARGHH, it hurts terribly when you get terrible products especially during times when you are saving up:(

Two days ago, Nit had a Tom Yum craving and asked if we would have dinner together? Since I havent been eating well for the past week I thought eating out one day would be good. So we went to SS2 Murni. Initially I thought that she was talking about a Tom Yum place that serves really good tom yum, then later I found out that it was SS2 Murni and that she didnt tried the tom yum before:S

Check out my Pandan leaf fried chicken, RM5!! It was huge and so tasty!! Definitely RM5 well spent!

Then came the heart breaker Tom yum. It cost me RM5 with rice RM1. Look at the preposterous soup! They chuck in tonnes of uneven angry cutted carrots and weird long beans into my Tom Yum! WTF, who in the world adds in beans?!!! They have me tiny bits of chicken, two cheap prawns and no squids.  ate up the chicken bits and just gave up eating. The rice was horribly hard!!! Then again, I cant expect them to serve me good rice right?

Their Honey Dew drink (small), RM3 was okay. Quite good actually.

Sick Nit with her Carrot Juice (med), RM4.

So conclusion, DO NOT GO FOR TOO CHEAP MEAL at cheap looking stalls because instead of saving the extra RM5, you would be wasting an additional RM5!!

I'm sleepy. Till then. Keep reading.

Shanar Curry House + Popi Popi + Mother's Day 2012

Just a quick update since I alreasy have the pictures uploaded since a few days ago. Last week, Nit brought me to this place in Section 5 Petaling Jaya to have Indian cuisine! The name of the shop is Shanar Curry House. I dont have the exact address though, I think its somewhere near 5/24 if Ive not mistaken. Its a corner shop lot situated in one of the housing estates that really remind me of my old house back in JB.

Decided to have my first ever Puri, RM1.50 there and gosh it tasted good! It actually tasted like Capati but a little oilier because its deep fried. Nit said that they use the same flour as the ones in Capati along with some other flour, I forgot.

The Puri was served with potatoes and dhal.Gosh! Their potatoes w spice was so good that I had a second serving with more potatoes! One of the best Masala Potatoes that Ive ever tried.

Nit ordered some Rawa Thosai. I dont know how much it cost but Im guessing it would range around the price of mine too. The one in the picture below is the something Rawa Thosai. Then she ordered a normal thosai which was so crispy good!! She was already too full by the time she had a quarter of it so she gave me the remainder, yummy!

Nit bought me teatime/ dinner that day because she said its my first time there hehe So happy, got someone to treat me food! Then later, I tried my luck to see whether he would have time for dinner. And yes he did!

He recommended this place called Popi Popi in Tropicana City Mall. Its an Italian food shop that look unconvincing but actually serve rather good food. Its situated at the lower ground, next to Carrefour.

I had water (as usual), he had Peach soda which came with lemon slices and Nit and I shared the Raspberry smoothies, RM7.90 I think. Yummysmoothies! It has that real fruit taste, not those horrible artificial chemical tasting type.

Initially I didnt order anything other than fries because I wasnt that hungry after two Puri and one Thosai, also I didnt want him to spend so much but decided to order a Caesar Salad, RM13.90 after tasting his!! Their salad is so good, so rich in flavour that I was guessing that have they added into the sauce?! It sure tasted of some garlic and Nit said she tasted some roe.

He also ordered some chicken but I didnt pick on it simply because Im afraid if I start trying a piece I would end up eating up his dinner LOL

MOTHER'S DAY is coming in 3 days time!!

Have you planned anything for your mum yet? Well I did! Actually I planned what to get since months ago:S Since I wont be back home on that day, I got my mum a slow cooker that she wanted since the last one spoilt but due to financial constrain she must have thought that it was unnecessary to get one in replacement.

Also, I decided to make her a card since I wanted her to have something nice to look forward to on Mother's Day itself. Stupid cards sold in shops are darn expensive! One fugly one would cost me 2 sets of McD so decided to make one myself!

The last time I made a card for my mum was eons ago. The question of why did I stop making her cards? Thats because I saw her dump it soon after. Well, not that I keep many of the cards given to me but somehow as a little girl I was devastated and demotivated when I saw my masterpiece in the garbage bag.

Anyway, its been years and check out my big flower card made up from instant noodles packets and biscuits packets!

Its really huge I tell you!! I didnt want to blog about this till after Mother's Day but just in case my flower is ruin in post, my mum could still have a look at how it was initially magnificent LOL

And a silly poem at the back. Somehow I always repeat the same thing each year, just that I'll paraphrase it in a different way, lmao.

As cliche as it sounds, my mum is the best because she is the stronghold of the family when things are spiraling down. My family is whacked up because of money, thought it was over till it happened again but somehow my mum makes everything stick. Without her, I guess I wouldn't want to go back home.

Talking about being emotional, Im on my stringent money saving mode now because I have a self funded trip to Sydney soon. As mentioned, my family financial crisis is whacked up I can only depend on myself if I want a holiday.

Last week I was thinking of having Orange Juice but decided to hold it off as long as I could because I dont want to spend anything extra than basic meals that cost not more than RM5. A bottle of orange juice would cost about RM2.50, I would think of a 3 days vegetables that I could buy with that amount and decide not to have orange juice.

Its always when I don't voice out my pathetic want for things like that, that Danial would coincidentally buy them LOL He asked if I wanted anything from 7-ll but considering the fact that he spent RM50 for dinner I said no. Oh! but he did get orange juice! HAHAHA

So I had orange juice the next day with my vege and egg meal. Okay, thinking of these kinda instances it makes me really want to cry. Damn it.

Could he have actually read my thoughts?

I was drinking it so slowly till the very last drop. There, a picture of my last grateful sip.

Lunch in the same week,

***

Im taking longer than expected to finish up this post before I continue revising:S Been having this stupid backache so I got myself a mesh back support for my chair. It was was Milkadeal just when I need it!! Got it for RM18 instead of RM49!!

It really is helping me much, thank goodness! I already have tired and stressed out eyes so a weak back wouldnt help at all.

I ordered one for my dad too from ebay for Father'd Day so that I wouldnt have to give him the same old tshirts/ facial products for every occasion. Hope it arrives on time unlike my stupid TSA lock that Ive yet to receive.

Also, I got my eye creams from bestbuyworld.com. Its 50% lesser in price there. Nit questioned its authenticity, But so far it seems to work fine me so ignorance is bliss. All about eyes Rich works well as a night eye cream! But I still prefer the original cream's texture- it glides easily!

Ending abruptly, spent too much time here. Do come back later for my next post on WHY WE SHOULD NOT DINE AT HAWKER CENTERS!!
